What are Quincy Christian School’s guiding principles?

Quincy Christian School’s Philosophy of Education is based on the Biblical Worldview – we believe the truth of God and live it.  Someone with a biblical worldview believes his primary reason for existence is to love and serve God.

With this in mind, QCS has two implements for its guiding principles as a school.

First, as a Christian School we adhere to God’s Word which is “a lamp and light” to our path. Bible is taught not only as a class course, but also taught throughout the curriculum subject matter.

Secondly, QCS adheres to the principles and standards with the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) and with the North Central Association of College and Schools (NCA).

This ensures that the school meets or surpasses high standards with regard to all aspects of school operation including spiritual foundation, teacher qualifications, educational programs, and business practices.  QCS promotes high academic standards, helping students achieve skills in creative and critical thinking, and enables students to pursue the post-secondary education.

Is Quincy Christian School affiliated with a specific church or denomination?

No. Quincy Christian School is supported through the Quincy Area Christian Schools Association ministry. The school does not operate under the authority of one church, but rather under support of many churches that provides a Christ-centered education for kindergarten through twelfth grade.

QCS is a parent-run institution providing a superior curriculum and teaching all subjects as parts of an integrated whole with a Biblical worldview. We are a discipleship-oriented school that makes it a priority to teach God’s Word. Our focus is to teach God’s Word and guide our students and families in confirming and maintaining a personal relationship with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

What curriculum do you use?

In keeping with our school’s purpose – to disciple students in God’s Word, to help students develop their God-given gifts and talents, to have students discover God’s purpose for their lives, and to equip students to be productive Christian leaders in their communities – our instructional program is designed with God’s Word at its heart.

QCS program is biblically integrated and intended to instill a biblical Christian worldview in each student. Our elementary program incorporates materials from ABeka, ACSI and Bob Jones University Press publishers. Our secondary program incorporates materials from ABeka, Bob Jones University Press, and Positive Action For Christ.

Students in first through eleventh grades are administered the Stanford Achievement Test on an annual basis to provide student achievement data and provide critical data necessary for evaluating our educational program.  Secondary students are given the PSAT (Practice SAT test for college entry) and are guided in the process of completing the College Board SAT (for college entry) and/or the ACT (for college entry).

Elementary and Middle School students are involved in weekly special activity classes including music, art, and physical education.  Secondary students have well-rounded elective options including classes in music, drama, art, physical education, yearbook/journalism, and multi-media to name a few.  All students are involved in daily Bible study and participate in weekly Chapel.
